Today’s post is going to be a little different. It’s not so much about food than it is about us – the two moms writing this blog Kiddielicious Kitchen. We are part of a Finnish food blogger community called Foodlover and this week we have the honour to be the blogger of the week, yey! So we were asked to do a little interview about us. We thought it’s a fun idea and gives us the opportunity to introduce us to our readers.
So here we go!
Where does the name Kiddielicious Kitchen come from?
The name of our blog describes the content and target audience of the blog – our recipes are family friendly and of course super delicious.
Why did you start writing a blog?
We are childhood friends and both mothers of two young children. We both get excited about food, cooking and photography and our cooking is at the moment focused on familyfriendly meals. So it was natural for us to team up and start a family friendly food blog during our maternity leaves.
What do you enjoy most about blogging?
Trying out new recipes, photographing and learning every day something new about blogging in general.
What do you find most challenging?
Definitely all the technical problems related to blogging. We don’t have previous experience in blogging and we have had to learn everything from scratch.
What are your top 3 favourite blogs and why?
This is a difficult question. There are so many wonderful and inspirational blogs. If we have to choose three, we’ll pick the following: Healthy Little Foodies, My Fussy Eater and Little Big H. All these blogs are very beautiful and offer delicious and healthy recipes for family friendly cooking.
Name your three Instagram favorites. What do you like about them?
Again, very difficult to name just three accounts, there are so many we love to follow. Let’s say these three: @vanelja, @pinchofyum, @nourishmemum. We choose these beautiful accounts because of their amazing food photography. We have been following these for a long time and they provide so much inspiration, we just love to see their creative work.
What is your favourite blogging related memory?
It’s always a delight to get some positive feedback. There is nothing better than getting good feedback from a reader who’s whole family has enjoyed our recipe.
If you had to choose one favourite post, which one would you choose?
Anja: Easy red lentil curry has been lately my go-to recipe if I want to cook a quick, easy and delicious dinner.
Minna: Banana bread. It’s a delicious recipe I have made many times. The first time I ate this banana bread was in Singapore when Anja made it for us. We were just planning to start this blog.
Any tips for a blogger just starting out?
We really recommend networking with other bloggers right from the beginning. It makes blogging much more fun and you can learn a lot from your experienced fellow bloggers.
What do you appreciate in other people?
Anja: Kindness and a positive attitude.
Minna: A positive attitude (just have to say the same) and fairness.
What’s the best decision you have made?
Anja: All decisions that have required conquering my fears and jumping into something new. Those decisions might feel agonizing to make, but I have rarely regretted them. One of them was moving to Singapore when my daughter was just two months old.
Minna: To go on a date with a random guy I met online. He is now my husband and father of our two daughters.
A weird habit not many know about:
Anja: I mess up in the kitchen quite often and end up spilling food and toppling pots and pans.
Minna: I always put on my right sock and shoe first.
Something I like about myself:
Anja: Kindness and broad-mindedness.
Minna: I consider myself a good friend.
I’m ashamed to admit, but…
Anja: …I enjoy to laze away (or maybe it’s embracing the concept of the famous Danish ”hygge”).
Minna: …I love to watch reality cooking shows like Master Chef Australia.
In my free time…
Anja: …I enjoy exercising, eating out (especially brunching is my favourite) and meeting friends (preferably over a meal or drinks).
Minna: …Same here. Time spent with friends and family enjoying good food makes me happy. And I also love exercising.
I would like to learn…
Anja: …doing ceramics, especially ceramic dishes.
Minna: …to use Lightroom.
When nobody is watching…
Anja: …I sneak to the fridge and have a piece of dark mint chocolate.
Minna: …I eat ice-cream straight from the tub.
In 10 years…
Anja: …I’m hopefully a woman in my best age – balanced and happy. And a mother of two tweens.
Minna: …I’m hopefully a happy mom, wife and entrepreneur.
Thank you if you read this far! We hope to see you again in the future on the blog Kiddielicious Kitchen or on social media!
