Smoothies are a great way to get kids to try new ingredients and flavours. Or to get a picky eater to eat some veggies. Although this smoothie is not about hiding any greens – it’s a celebration to some yummy green ingredients. I wanted to make a green smoothie that tastes mild enough for also kids to like it. If you get your kids to try it, I would say there is a good change they will ask for more. At least in my family this kid-friendly green smoothie is a favorite!
What’s in the kid-friendly green smoothie?
My two-year-old really loves avocado. She can’t say it yet, so she calls it avo. And she’s always asking for it, so naturally I had to add some avocado to the smoothie. Besides that it tastes delicious avocado is a great source of good fats.
Spinach is a rich source of vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin K, magnesium and iron. Raw spinach is not usually a kids’ favorite, but in this creamy smoothie the consistency is easier to like.
Lime and ginger are for extra flavour. I also added a small amount of banana for sweetness and pure apple juice to make the consistency perfect to drink with a straw.
- 2,5 dl / 1 cup apple juice (100 % pure juice)
- 1 avocado
- 2 handfuls of baby spinach
- juice of 1 lime
- ½ banana
- 1 tsp fresh ginger (grated)
- Add all ingredients to a blender and blend until perfectly smooth.
Hope you enjoy the kid-friendly green smoothie!
