Chocolate milk definitely brings back childhood memories to me. We used to drink it after school with our snack. Oh boy, it tasted good! I guess chocolate milk is still an essential part of many families’ milk intake. Here in Singapore all the kids are drinking Milo and most parents are fine with it, because they are happy to see their children drinking milk. The one I used to drink as a child wasn’t any different from Milo. But there is a big problem with drinking Milo or any similar chocolate milk – the amount of refined sugar!
But fortunately there is a way to enjoy chocolate milk that is way healthier but has the same great taste. My daughter and me totally approved of this healthy homemade chocolate milk! And you only need 3 ingredients, a blender and one minute to prepare this.
The ingredients I used for this healthy homemade chocolate milk were coconut milk, frozen banana and raw cacao powder. Even though I used coconut milk to make this chocolate milk (which tasted awesome!), you can of course use cow’s milk, if you prefer it to coconut milk.
While this chocolate milk is a delicious and refreshing drink, it is also rich in nutrients. Coconut milk is rich in numerous minerals, contains a high amount of fiber and boosts your immune system. Banana is a good source of potassium, dietary fiber, manganese and vitamins B6 & C. Furthermore, raw cacao powder is known to be rich in antioxidants.
So next time your kids are asking for chocolate milk, take out your blender and prepare this healthy homemade chocolate milk in no time! To make the snack time even better, enjoy some blueberry zucchini breakfast cookies or some of these healthy and easy snacks with the chocolate milk.
- 8 dl/ 3,4 cups coconut milk
- 2 frozen or fresh ripe bananas
- 10 tbsp raw cacao powder
- Put all ingredients in a blender and blend for about one minute.
- Serve immediately.
We hope you enjoy the healthy homemade chocolate milk!
